K received his diploma! Finally, he is officially a college graduate. He happened to be all dressed up for job hunting, doesnt he look sharp. It was so exciting to open the envelope and see that he has a diploma. It was a long time coming.

Happy Easter

We gave Little K an Easter basket this morning. She LOVED the plastic grass in it. And of course, everything in the basket went into her mouth (even the chocolate that was for mom and dad).

K can stand

Little K has learned how to pull herself up so that she can stand. She loves to stand and bounce. Now she just needs to learn to crawl.

K is teething

Pictures of little K this morning as we get ready for church. She has 3 teeth on the bottom and a couple starting to come in on top. If you look close you can see the bottom ones.

This is her on the new carpet. It is so nice to have a clean place for her to play.

Our house - the work continues!

FINALLY! some pictures of the house.
The kitchen is just about done. When we started it had one ugly green cabinet with a kitchen sink in it, and the opposite corner there used to be a chimney running through the kitchen and the bathroom upstairs. This was walled in and took a large portion of space out of the two rooms. Fortunately it was already abandoned in the attic, so we didn't have to fix a hole in the roof. So brick by brick we tore it out, along with everything in the kitchen (all the way down to the studs with wood plaster slats). So after rearranging the bathroom above it and getting the plumbing how we liked it up there we re-drywalled the ceilling and walls, hung cabinets, put in countertops, threw down some flooring and a new ceilling fan. So now the kitchen is pretty much finished with the exception of a tile backsplash behind the sink and behind the oven, and some molding around the ceilling.

We put two new ceilling fans in the living room yesterday. we bought a wood stove and it should be in on Tuesday. C has curtains on order, but those won't be in for a while. In the meantime, C is going to put wall paper in the living room to hide some of the flaws of the old plaster. We don't want to put too much time or money into the deal because we have been warned that we won't get that money out of the house. So after that the living room will be just about done.

We are kind of getting the laundry room ready. It doesn't have a whole lot to do to it. Basically I have changed out the plumbing and we need to finish the flooring. We bought a washer and dryer that should be in tomorrow afternoon. It is a good thing because going to the laundromat gets expensive (and boring).

I think the next project will be just to finish up the upstairs bathroom which needs new flooring and some drywall work.

Davenport, Iowa

So... we are finally getting settled in our new old house. I will get some pictures of the place once I can get things up and running. We had a Hard drive meltdown so I have to rebuild my computer and get all the software re-installed.
So far the progress on the house is slow but it is coming along well. K is working hard everyday and I am his cheerleader. I promise I will get some pictures up soon! I
