Out of Town (or in town)

Hey everyone, quick update....
K's grandpa is sick and in the hospital and so on Sunday morning we packed the truck and drove to Mesa. It was a very long 30 hours in the truck. Little K did so great, she is such a good baby. K's grandpa is doing well today, but who knows about tomorrow. The doctors dont know what is wrong with him and so they are not able treat anything. He is taking a lot of pain meds and so he is pretty out of it. We are praying that the doctors can figure something out soon. We are staying at my moms house is Gilbert and everyone on both sides of the fam are thrilled to see Little K. We dont know how long we will be in the valley. We may take a couple days up in Flagstaff. But we do know that we have to be back in Iowa for school to start July 14th.
So davenport friends, I am sorry that I will be missing book group, birthday dinner and anything else for the next week or two. And Arizona friends, I will be calling you soon to visit. I know there is a lot of new babies in Flagstaff that I want to hold!

Can't Touch this!

For my birthday my sister sent me one of those fancy cards that plays music when you open it. I had been proudly displaying it on my mantel for over a month now and decided that Little K could have it. I showed her that when you open it, it plays. And when you close it, it stops and then left her to it. A few minutes later, I come in and she was busy with it.... open, close, open, close. Then she set it on the floor open and blaring "Can't touch this" and started dancing. Stomping her feet and clapping her hands. Open, close, open, close... all morning long ... "Can't touch this".

The next day, in her slightly unsupervised crawling around the family room, she finds a fathers day card. She opens it, then closes it, opens it again and then started to cry. She was so upset that it didn't play music. She crawled over to me and handed me the card and clapped her hands as if asking me to turn on the music. I quickly found the "Can't touch this" card and she went back to dancing to the awesome beats of M.C Hammer. If she didn't make me smile everytime she bounces to the beat, I would be going crazy listening to the first 10 seconds of the song over and over.

Fathers day

Fathers day was a mellow day for us. K got the Best gift ever. I had been working with little K all week to say "dada" and right on que she said it for dad. We woke up and she crawled over to him and started "dadadada". now we cant get her to stop saying it. But we love it and she knows that we do. He is such a wonderful dad and Little K just loves her dada so much. In the morning when I get up because she has woken up, I will put her in our bed with us hoping to get a least 3 more mins of sleep. She wants nothing to do with me, she will climb on dad - scream in his ear to wake him up so that he will play with her. It is the cutest thing (and I get 3 more minutes of sleep!)
After church we went to the Sky bridge to see the flood waters. There is A LOT of water. Lucky we have not been flooded. Our basement is a little soggy but not like others with inches or feet of water in the basement.

NEBS Announces its closing

I got a call yesterday from my old boss in Flagstaff that NEBS (my former place of employment) was closing its doors. They gave the employees 60 days, so it is will be closing in August. It is so very bitter sweet. I am sure this is a tough time for everyone who still was working there. It is hard to find a good paying job in Flagstaff. It will be even harder with 120 more qualified people all looking at the same time. I wish everyone the best of luck in their new jobs. But think of it as a blessing, I know most of you wanted out of there anyway - this is just the push you needed!

Another First

This weekend we went to the "Greek Festival" It was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be but at least the Gyros were good!

As most of you know, with a baby 9 months old, we are going through the "FIRSTS" Stage. First time of doing this, first time that. And with Little K being our first, we are taking the camera and documenting every "first".
Today was little K's first time on a swing! We rode our bikes to the park and put her on the swing. At first she was on with dad and she was a little scared. But once we got her in by herself - She was having a BLAST.

The video is slow at first but 30 seconds into it she starts laughing. I love her little laugh. K is such a good dad, he loves to play with his baby. Hope you enjoy the clip! You can see in the video that she is starting to gain weight. We are so excited that she is growing! She was not making much progress when we first got out to Iowa, but now she is starting to grow taller and chunky.
