Fall or Autumn and so much more

However you say it, I LOVE IT! I love the cold crisp air, the falling leaves and the pumpkins. I love pumpkins. Cinnamon smell in the air and all the lovely critters trying to get into my warm house. Tonight I saw a mouse in the den. I am totally frusterated. There are many joys of living in a OLD house but that is not one. We have had seriously every critter, creepy thing and flying thing that people dread. We have had (and apparently still have) mice, a bat, a squirrle in the chimney pipe (if I havent told you that story, it is a dang funny one... did you know squirrels bark when they are mad?) more mice, spiders galor, sweet ants (there is nothing sweet about them!) maybe a cockroach or two, stray cats in the garage, a racoon outside my window, a dove and pigeon living under a overhang that joyful woke us up everymorning and who can forget the abundant groundhogs that my husband is so distracted with. Enough complaining about the yuck things. I have PICTURES!

We had a "box" play date at the park. I brough a couple big boxes for Little K and her friends to play in. It wasnt a huge succes (as far as the interest in boxes goes) but a play date at the park is always fun! And this is her Cheese!

We had a little Pre Halloween trick or treat at Palmer. It was fun. There was a lot of people there so it was a bit confused and rushed. Little K was a trooper, she did so well. It was good practice for the other 25 halloween things we have going on the next 2 weeks.

Today, we made a cotton ball ghost. She tried to eat the cotton balls a couple times. Maybe she wasnt trying to eat them, maybes she was copying mom and wiping her face with them. She is really into copying me, she makes me laugh every day. She loves to read books and magazines (not baby books, mommy's books) And I didnt notice that I do it so much but I lick my fingure to change the page. Well she now licks her hand to turn the page in mommys books. So super cute. The other she is into right now is the phone. All day long she is walking around pretending to be on the phone (which could be a phone, the remote, a piece of paper) anything that she can hold up to her head. I let her talk to my parents on the phone and she paces aroound the room and talks and talk and talks and says nothing at all. I think she talked to my mom for 15 mins this morning. She cried when I took the phone away because she wasnt done talking....
Oh my it must be getting late because I am rambling like a rambler. Ok Ok Ok - GOod night!

Small World

Here is a long story short....
After talking with my father briefly about our genealogy, I learned that K and I may be related. I started looking it up on the new fancy online genealogy website. (new.familysearch.org) And true enough we are!
How you ask???
Ezekiel Johnson Jr. is my great great great great grandfather. (4 greats) And he is K's great great great great great grandpa (5 greats).
Ezekiel Johnson Jr. was born in 1773 and married Julia Hills. They had a lot of kids ( I think 17). K's Family line comes from the eldest son and mine the youngest daughter. There is a book on tape that K and I have listened to about the Johnson family and their struggles as new members of the newly formed church. Awesome book, A Banner is Unfurled.
Anyway...... Small world!

My personal Salad Bar

I came up with this idea for a salad bar to combat one of my many excuses for not eating salad as much as I should. I was consistently buying all the fixings for great salad and the first day would make a killer salad, then the rest of the week I would watch the lettuce wilt and the cumbers shrivel. One of the excuses was that it was such a deal to get everything out... make the salad... and put everything away again. I tried mixing it all up on day one, and that didn't work out so good. I tried eating salad with less ingredients, and that bored me. SO...... my big idea

My OWN SALAD BAR!

I bought this cake carrier that fits perfectly in my fridge. And at the beginning of the week, when I buy all the yummies, I cut them up and put them in individual containers IN the 'salad bar'. Then come eating time, I pull out one big tray of all the toppings I could choose from. I do differnt combos each week. I am loving it!

.... "yes, it is pink eye"

Not great pictures, but you can see the redness of the whites and the swollen eyes. Poor baby

The dreaded words from the doctor this morning. " Yes, it is a typical case of pink eye - in both eyes."
After another horrifically long night, Little K's cold is getting better but her eyes are much more red and very swollen. I gave in and took her to the doctor ( I knew what he was going to say). I am so bummed out that she has pink eye. Not only does it suck for her because of the constant gunk oozing out and the swollen eyes and the nagging mom that is constantly wiping the gunk away and now the drops that I have to pin her down to put in her eyes 3 times a day, but NOW I get to wash all the sheets and pillows in our bed and hers, sanitize her bed, high chair and car seat and of course all her toys. Don't have pity on me, this is all stuff that I needed to do anyway and have been neglecting to do as often as I should. but for sure I DON'T want any other kids getting this, it is no fun. Unfortunately, our best friend who was over last week (see below post)went to the doctor this morning as well and has it too. I have pictures of her little puffy eyes that I will add later, they are on the other computer.

First Fire of the year

The last few nights have gotten pretty cold and in turn my house gets cold and does not warm up easily. So we decided it was time to move the couch (it was in front of the fireplace) and start our first fire. It was awesome. It warmed up so nice and then by bed time, I would say it was hot in the family room. Last night it didn't get as cold and today is supposed to be nice so I have all the windows open. I love the fall breeze, cool but not cold and so fresh. I love the fall. I love to layer my clothes, I love getting ready for winter. I love fall colors. I love seeing the leafs change colors. I love the smell of fall. I have a cinnamon vanilla Scentsy Candle (shameless plug) burning right now and I love it!
On another note, little K is sick :( She had a fever all day yesterday. It was obvious that she was not feeling well because she actually sat on my lap and watched part of conference with me. She sat still! I couldn't believe it. I loved it, but felt bad that she was not feeling well. My little girl only needs the little excuse to not sleep well and last night was no exception. She was up every 90 mins on the dot. So I finally just took her downstairs and we slept on the couch together. It was a rough night but I think that she is feeling a little better today. Hopefully she will eat better and sleep better today. Did I mention that her naps consisted of only 2 30 cat naps....

Hope you are all enjoying the fall and if you need some fall scents, I am putting in a couple of orders this week so let me know!

Boyfriend, more art, and finally some hair!

The other day, we had our friends son over for a couple hours. Little K LOVES to play with other kids and has a tendency to be TOO Friendly. She like this little boy alot and it is very obvious because she loves to tease him. ( I thought they didn't start that until school age.. who knew?)
Here she has him trapped so that she can share her lipstick with him. It took some convincing, but she got him to let her put it on him. His mom doesn't know about this yet.
Little K is trying to.... yes.... kiss him. He was kinda sad, so she again cornered him and went in for the kiss.
She followed him everywhere he went, up the slide, down the slide up the slide down the slide. He needs to run faster if he wants to ditch my little girl!

This weekend is General Conference. And that means hanging out at home! This morning dad was working in the yard and pouring concrete (he always has a project). Little K and I decided to work on our fall decorations. She colored a pumpkin.

Here is our fall decorations. I made these pumpkins from this great tutorial. I need to make a few more. Then I strung some ribbon to hang Little K's art.
Trying to stick with the conference themed weekend, I helped Little K make a church collage. I cut out a bunch of pictures from old ensigns and she sat on my lap as we glued them on the page. She is learning to talk (so we like to believe). She only will say a few word and only on her terms. But JESUS is one that she loves to say. It sounds more like 'hesissssss'. If she sees a picture of Jesus, she always knows who it is. I love it!

I don't know how well it shows up in the pictures, but our little bald girl is finally getting some hair! we are so excited and will post more pictures as it continues to come in! YEAH!
